Recently, researchers have found that Hoodia, from the Namib Desert in Africa, is an extremely powerful appetite suppressant. Natives, to suppress appetites when food was scarce, have used it for centuries. Fennel is also a fine appetite suppressant, with the added benefit of reducing fat in the intestine.
Another part of an herbal weight loss program is help increasing the metabolic rate. Green tea is becoming very popular, as it has been linked to speeding up metabolism allowing a person to burn fat faster. It also has high antioxidant levels to help protect against certain cancers. Red Pepper will also increase you metabolism, and it also encourages you to drink more water due to the heat from the herb. You won't eat as much if you're already full of water. Kelp is also extremely fine to help you use more calories to the hour.
Chickweed may also help in your quest to reduce your weight. Mixed with salads it's a nice change of pace. It is not known exactly what chickweed does to help with weight loss, but it has a reputation for helping out.
